Thomas Aquinas: Mastermind & Saint

St Thomas wasn’t burnt alive. He didn’t fly in the air. And he wasn’t the head of the Church.

The key to this ordinary person's holiness was that he dedicated his life to loving God - through learning.

Aquinas was an expert author and despite only living to forty, wrote over 3 million words! Night and day, he defended the Church's position and proved how faith in God can actually be logical.

Learning and prayer were so central to Aquinas’ life that Jesus appeared to him in a vision and personally commended him, saying, "You have written well of me, Thomas. What would you ask for your reward?"

Almost a thousand years later, Aquinas’ love for God and learning still impacts Australia - in priests, universities, and many Aussie's lives.

It goes without saying why there's no better patron than Aquinas. His love for God and learning transformed a priest into a saint.

St Thomas Aquinas - pray for us.

Prayer of St Thomas

Come, Holy Spirit, Divine Creator, true source of light and fountain of wisdom! Pour forth your brilliance upon my dense intellect, dissipate the darkness which covers me, that of sin and of ignorance.

Grant me a penetrating mind to understand, a retentive memory, method and ease in learning, the lucidity to comprehend, and abundant grace in expressing myself.

Amen.
